The ‘damning’ survey highlighting the fears of employers in Victoria
Nine out of ten Victorian employers are fearing for their staff’s safety because of surging retail crime.
A survey by the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) found one in two companies are battling crime and anti-social behaviour every week, and 41 per cent say crime has had a direct impact on their daily operations.
VCCI CEO Sally Curtain says instead of staff, some 7-Eleven stores are moving towards having self-serve vending machines in store.

Retired Victorian police detective and now a security consultant, Charlie Bezzina, told Ross and Russel “something had to be done” to curb retail crime in the state.
“I applaud the move from (7-Eleven) management to protect their people,” Bezzina said on 3AW Breakfast.
