The dangers – and benefits – of the new Pokemon Go game

The Pokemon Go craze has brought about some modern dangers.

eSafety expert Julia Cornwell McKean told Neil Mitchell it’s not just about people potentially walking into walls.

‘There’s a risk that people may go down that nasty laneway that they wouldn’t walk down,’ Ms McKean said.

‘I did hear of some nasty incidents in the United States where someone had a beacon and robbed people who got there.’

But there are also some benefits.

Ms McKean said it’s good to see video games taking people outdoors.

‘We at the Children’s eSafety Commissioner actually think this could be a really positive family experience,’ she said.
