The ‘debate worth having’ over GST changes which ‘make sense’

Tom Elliott says we need to have a debate over potential changes to the GST.

Neil Mitchell said on 3AW Mornings that “serious discussions” are taking place over increasing the GST to 15 per cent.

Tom said that the idea was a sound one, but he didn’t expect it to happen because of how it would look for the Albanese government.

“It’s one of those ideas that makes a lot of sense,” he said on 3AW Drive.

“We need a new source of tax revenue and a GST is a good tax because it’s hard to avoid and everyone needs to pay it.”
