The doctor who would fly to Italy to help George Pell return
A Perth physician believes Cardinal George Pell is well enough to return to Australia to face the Child Abuse Royal Commission.
He’s willing to travel to Italy to help – and he’ll pay for both tickets.
Dr Richard Sallie told Tom Elliott he wants the ‘litany of destruction and damage’ to be fully investigated.
‘I think it’s absolutely essential to the victims for all the facts to be known,’ he said on Thursday.
‘It seems to me that the only way of that occurring is to get the Cardinal back to testify.’
Dr Sallie said he does not know the Cardinal’s condition, however he spent $250,000 on flights last year, and is in charge of the Vatican’s financial division.
‘If I had that much money, I wouldn’t be leaving it in the hands of someone who’s critically unwell.’
