The event at Paris Olympics tipped to be the ‘race of the century’
Sydney Morning Herald and The Age swimming reporter Tom Decent has forecast the women’s 400m freestyle showdown at the upcoming Paris Olympics will be the “race of the century”.
Ariarne Titmus will be looking to defend her Olympic title when she once again comes up against American Katie Ledecky, while Canadian teen sensation Summer McIntosh will also pose a threat in the much-anticipated race.
“It will be the race of the century,” Decent told Shane McInnes on The Olympics Today podcast.

“Summer McIntosh, she’s a freak. She has been shooting the lights out, didn’t break the world record at Canadian trials, but I reckon there might’ve been a tiny bit of foxing there and wanting to go in as the underdog. And Katie Ledecky, an absolute champion of the sport. You cannot write her off.”
