Motor neuron disease (MND) is a devastating illness for which there is no cure, but former AFL legend Neale Daniher is trying to change that.

Neale was diagnosed with MND in 2013, and has since dedicated his life to campaigning to fund research into the disease.

This morning Kate and Justin spoke to him about MND, and the charity he works with, Fight MND.

“MND is a killer. At the moment there is no effective treatment or cure, but through the support of all the community we’ve got several trials underway and we’re hopeful that some of these will show a real breakthrough for treatment… the fight goes on,” Neale said.

Fight MND is hosting an event this Sunday at Birrurang Marr, headlined by Aussie rock legend Jimmy Barnes. Tickets are just $50 and all proceeds will fund research into the disease. For more information, or to purchase tickets, visit the Fight MND website.
