The ‘full on debate’ Tom Elliott thinks we’ll soon have as crime continues to escalate in Victoria
Tom Elliott predicts a “full on debate” on the level of force Victorians can use to defend themselves is soon coming as crime continues to escalate in Victoria.
The 3AW Mornings host has anecdotal evidence of several people who have gun licences, who are now keeping a loaded weapon in their house.
“I welcome the debate, I don’t want to see someone shot and killed but it is inevitable,” he said.

“If the justice system keeps failing honest law-abiding Victorians, then it is understandable that those same honest law-abiding Victorians will increasingly look to take the law into their own hands.”
Councillor at Merri-Bek Council and also a Justice of the Peace, Oscar Yildiz, told Tom Elliott he used to process one gun licence application every six months, but is now processing two to three applications a week.
“There’s a real sense of lawlessness in the community,” Mr Yildiz said on 3AW Mornings.

“The fact that so many people are even beginning this process, is telling me straight out that they’re worried about their safety, that’s what alarms me the most.”
