The ‘growing debate’ surrounding the NDIS as autism rates in the country surge
The National Disability Insurance Scheme is being blamed for Australia having the highest autism rates in the world.
The increase in the past decade has been sharper than in countries with comparable economic and health systems such as the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.
University of Sydney Professor Adam Guastella says while it is difficult to get an autism diagnosis, there is correlation with the NDIS.
