Tom Elliott believes the price of packaged drinks have been raised since the advent of Victoria’s container deposit scheme.

The new scheme launched at the start of November, encouraging people to recycle cans with 10c per can offered as a reward.

But Tom reckons the price of drinks have been raised as a result of the new scheme to help cover costs.

“I’ve noticed that suddenly slabs of water of beer has got more expensive,” he said on 3AW Drive.

“I believe retailers are putting up per container (in a slab) by 12.5 cents.”
