Former Prime Minister Scott Morrison has called for Islamic preachers in Australia to be regulated today, with all sermons to be translated in English in the wake of the Bondi terror attack.

Tom Elliott weighed in on Morrison’s plan, stating it’s an “interesting point of view”.

Press PLAY to hear why he thinks the idea is a ‘bit problematic’

“Having the state controlling religion like that will not go down well with some people,” the 3AW Mornings host said.

Director of the Forum on Australia’s Islamic Relations, Kuranda Seyit, has labelled the proposal “quite outrageous”.

Press PLAY to hear his strong reaction to Scott Morrison’s proposal

“It only further divides the community in Australia, and it’s going to alienate so many more young Muslims,” Mr Seyit said.

“This is very, very irresponsible from the former Prime Minister.”
