The idea to transform Camberwell Junction, New York-style
The heart of Camberwell could receive a major facelift to become a town square, in a bold bid to improve pedestrian access and traffic flow.
The idea is to reduce Camberwell Junction to a four-way intersection to create a pedestrian plaza, inspired by New York’s Times Square.
Booroondara resident and director of Alexander Urbanism, Nathan Alexander, said it could be a much better place.
‘When you make a four-way intersection you get more green time, it’s going to allow more traffic to get through,’ he said.
