Neil Mitchell was once diagnosed with terminal cancer and given just a few short months to live.

Fortunately, it was an incorrect diagnosis but before he discovered that, he was directly confronted with his looming death.

In a frank and open interview with Andrew Denton, Neil said he found great comfort in believing he may have had some control over his passing.

Andrew Denton joined Neil for The Ideas Factory segment to discuss euthanasia. Denton has just returned from a year travelling across the globe talking to doctors and policymakers about the controversial issue.

A passionate advocate for voluntary-assisted death, Andrew Denton explains how other countries have legislated for it, and why Australian medical professionals and politicians should start talking about it.
