The key to a long-lasting, happy marriage? Share the load and get don’t expect to change your partner
A Sydney academic has shared some tips for a long-lasting marriage.
In an opinion piece, Fairfax columnist Jenna Price says imagining you can change your partner and failing to share the load with domestic duties can erode marriages.
“The biggest one from the data shows men are not terribly well house trained,” she told Tom Elliott on 3AW Drive.
“The big conflict is about housework and after that the conflict is about sex and after that the conflict is about children.
“People cannot stay married if one person is carrying the load.”
Tom Elliott questioned if men were genetically programmed to avoid housework.
“I think this next generation of men will change, because their mothers have been at work.”
