The latest details as helicopter plunges into water off Bellarine Peninsula

Three people have been rescued after a helicopter dramatically plunged into the waters off the Bellarine Peninsula on Friday morning.

The incident took place near Point Londsdale at around 10am, with emergency services immediately swarming the scene.

Fire Rescue Victoria Commander Mark Brislane says the rescue could have been even more treacherous if the tide wasn’t lower.

“(The crash was) quite an isolated position on the beach,” he said on 3AW Drive.
