A veteran cricket journalist who worked for Cricket Australia while Justin Langer was coach says Langer been treated “very badly” by CA, an organisation he says has been “in a constant state of turmoil” in recent years.

Malcolm Conn told 3AW he didn’t expect Langer to keep his job, despite being at the helm for Australia’s recent Ashes demolition of England.

“For a guy who is a legend of the game, he’s been treated very badly by Cricket Australia,” Conn said on Sportsday.

It’s been reported Langer’s intense personality had been the source of frustration for players in recent years.

“I’ve seen it close up,” Conn, who was a media manager for Cricket Australia in 2019, explained.

“I learned very early on that unless you actually have to deal with Justin, you stay out of his way, because you’re never sure whether you’re going to get an answer or an explosion.”
