Due to a little-known provision in the Land Tax Act, if you fail to pay your land tax, the amount could be added to your mortgage.

“When I was told about this, I thought there’s no way this could be true,” Tom Elliott said.

“The threads are drawn between the property owner and the bank and the property owner and the state revenue office by the Land Tax Act, which says that this can actually be done,” Justin Lawrence, partner with Henderson and Ball Lawyers, said on 3AW Mornings.
