Detective Senior Sergeant at Victoria Police, Joy Murphy, is celebrating 51 years in the force this morning and is being recognised today with a Medal of the Order (OAM) for her service.

Detective Murphy is the longest serving police woman in the world and spoke to Tony Jones on her eventful career, including a near-death experience!

“I just kept marching forward, and just got over the speed humps as they came along,” Detective Murphy told Tony Jones, filling in for Neil Mitchell.
