Gusty winds are a “major concern” for fire authorities today, with the temperature also set to soar to 40 degrees in some parts of the state.

Country Fire Authority spokesperson, Luke Hegarty, says the west of the state is particular cause for concern today.

“Our focus today is keeping any new fires that start very small and containing them very quickly,” he told Tony Jones, filling in for Tom Elliott.
