The Melbourne teenager hoping to become first female Formula 1 driver
Melbourne teenager Aiva Anagnostiadis is aiming to become the first female Formula 1 driver of the modern era.
She’s packed her life up and is moving to the UK after being selected in the prestigious Alpine Formula 1 Academy, following in the footsteps of fellow Melburnian Oscar Piastri who also started with the same team before earning a spot on the F1 grid with McLaren.
The 16-year-old says the path forward to make it in Formula 1 is now clear for her.

“We’re heading over to Europe on December 31 and we’ll be based in Oxford in the UK,” she told Neil Mitchell on 3AW Mornings.
“Oscar (Piastri) progressed quite quickly. Hopefully by 19 or 20 (I can become an F1 driver), the pathway is now set up.”
