Queensland will open its borders to interstate COVID-19 hotspots — Victoria, NSW and the ACT — at 1am on Monday.

The reopening date has been brought forward, with Queensland expected to hit 80 per cent double dose vaccination on Friday or Saturday.

Host of 4BC Drive in Brisbane, Scott Emerson, says there’s “some apprehension” about the border reopening.

“But I think everyone is just happy that the borders are going to open. We’re feeling being separated also,” he told Ross and Russel.

Emerson says Queenslanders are puzzled by Victoria’s persistent daily COVID-19 cases.

“We are shaking our heads up here about what seems to be happening in Victoria,” he said.

“I was talking to the spokesperson from the AMA yesterday and she was quite open about it. She said ‘Look, when the borders open COVID is going to come into Queensland’.

Victorians travelling to Queensland from 1am on Monday must be double-vaccinated, and must receive a negative PCR test within 72 hours of departure.

After five days of being in Queensland, they must get another PCR test.
