The most common lie renters are telling their landlords

Research by Finder has found 26 per cent of renters have kept secrets from their landlords with renters lying the most about owning pets.

Money expert at Finder, Sarah Megginson, says it’s not surprising renters are lying about owning pets.

“We’ve had a lot of law changes over the last 5-10 years to make sure landlords can’t discriminate against pet owners in theory, but in practice … they’re going to veer towards the one that doesn’t have a pet,” she told Heidi Murphy, filling in for Neil Mitchell.
