Sections of a handwritten letter have been released in the hope of finding a man who confronted a little girl on her way to school.

The man approached the nine-year-old as she rode her bike along Skeeter Drive in Mernda on November 14.

He grabbed the handlebars, before convincing her to walk alongside him.

She managed to run off, prompting the man to drop her bike and run from the scene.

As the investigation continued, an anonymous letter was sent to police.

“We received a letter soon after the incident by a person purporting to be the male involved,” Leading Senior Constable Graham Wassell told Tony Jones.

“In that he basically tries to outline his reasons for doing it and justify his actions.

“It is still quite a scary scenario.”

The below excerpts have been released in the hope someone recognises the handwriting.
