New government estimates has found the federal government’s new “same job, same pay,” laws will cost businesses up to $5 billion over the next decade.

Labour market economist from Melbourne Institute, Professor Mark Wooden, says the laws, which have been pushed by unions, are anti-competitive and won’t be good for workers in the long run.

“[The] Union movement would like – not just for all workers to get paid the same in one firm, but all workers across the whole entire industry to be paid the same,” he told Ross and Russel.
