Tom Elliott has shared his thoughts on a new plea from Australian farmers for Melbournians to ditch driving and opt for public transport amid ongoing questions surrounding fuel security.

The newest move from farmers has offered a warning to drivers of the difficult decisions that they may have to face if the nations diesel shortage is not rectified.

“We have a stark choice. Do we want fuel for our diesel Utes and SUVs, or do we want food on our supermarket shelves?” the 3AW Mornings host said.

Whilst unpacking the logistics, Elliott made clear that the issue that keeps arising is Australia’s overwhelming reliance on a fuel supply from the Middle East.
