The new push for a four day working week in Victoria

Victorian public servants have launched a new push for a four day working week, with the Community and Public Sector Union (CPSU) inquiring to the state government on piloting a shortened working week.
Under this new proposal, public servants would work reduced hours with the expectation they maintain the same workload as before.
Federal Secretary of the CPSU, Karen Batt, believes the new look working week would boost productivity and reduce absenteeism.
“We actually think it will be a benefit for the state and its economy,” Ms Batt told Neil Mitchell.
Neil Mitchell, however, is not convinced the plan would work from a logistical and financial standpoint.
“What worries me is the public service in Victoria is growing bigger than any other state, it’s costing $36 billion dollars a year to taxpayers,” Mitchell said.
