The upcoming US election has been tipped to “cast a shadow” over the entirety of 2024, according to one expert.
Current president Joe Biden is expected to come up against Donald Trump, who is making another run at the presidency after his four-year term between 2017 and 2021.
The Economist deputy editor Tom Standage says a Trump victory would have implications for several current global events, including the war in the Middle East and Ukraine.

“It’s not just the election itself but the implications of the result,” he told Shane McInnes on 3AW Mornings.
“It really does cast a shadow over the entire of 2024. If (Donald) Trump comes back, it changes so many things.”
