Well this one has snuck under the radar.

It was while reading an international newspaper that Ross discovered Collins St will soon be home to one of the world’s skinniest towers.

The ‘Pencil Tower’ – standing 12 metres wide and 195 metres tall – is set to be completed this year.

A quick internet search uncovered only a small amount of local coverage about the building.

And even architecture guru Peter Maddison, host of Grand Designs Australia, wasn’t fully aware when we called him early this morning.

‘It’s quite something in that part of town,’ he told us.

‘And there’s a certain market appeal to it.

‘It’s a kind of a modern-day freehold land situation, because the lift opens directly into your apartment and there’s no public space.’
