The price of Australian cherries will be at a record level this Christmas

The price of cherries are set to soar this Christmas due to a shortage.

Treasurer of Cherry Growers Australia Hugh Molloy told 3AW’s Tony Jones prices will be at a record level.

Molloy said the high prices will leave growers in a difficult situation.

‘They’ve also got incredibly high costs they have to recoup as well,’ he said.

Molloy said the prices should not sway consumers from buying cherries come Christmas.

‘The quality of the cherries are magnificent,’ he said.
