The princess of pop, Kylie Minogue, is sharing the Christmas cheer around this year.

The 47-year-old joined Neil Mitchell on 3AW Mornings following the release of her merry new album, Kylie Christmas

In a wide-ranging interview, Kylie said she had no plans to retire from singing.

Will you still be performing in 10 years?

Every time I say ‘forget it, I’m retiring’, there’s much scoffing around me. Probably, who knows?

One of the reasons that keeps one going in any profession is the more experience you amass, the more equipped you feel to be able to do it. So I don’t want to waste that.

If you weren’t a singer, what would you be doing?

I was acting in my last years of high school so I was already drifting out of the system. And everything that was proposed at school made no sense.

The only thing that came close was graphics. In another life, I would have loved to be a graphic designer.

Would you sometimes prefer privacy or a normal life?

Definitely, yeah. That’s not something that’s unattainable. Again, you just have to do it in your own way.

I think for all the times it has its difficulties, it is what I do and I think it’s my destiny.

On doing a Christmas album

When people would mention the Christmas album 10 or 15 years ago, I had to brush it off and go ‘no way are you kidding me? Give it a few more years’.

Thus the years have passed and it felt like the right time.
