Public school zoning rules are set to be tightened at the start of term two, making it harder for parents to get their kids into schools outside of their area.

The opposition is also calling for school catchments to be scrapped altogether.

CEO of Parents Victoria Gail McHardy believes there is a big problem with the current school zoning rules, with Tom Elliott also weighing in on the issue.

Press PLAY to hear the problem with school zoning rules

“The root of all evil here is funding for public schools,” Ms McHardy told Tom Elliott, filling in for Neil Mitchell.

“We shouldn’t be in a position where some of those other schools are poorly funded compared to some of the others that are more popular, it should not be a popular vote.”
