The push for ‘pet leave’ in Australia

There is a push for “pet leave” to be added to worker entitlements in Australia, which has raised Tom Elliott’s eyebrows.

Sophie Anning, corporate affairs director at Mars Petcare, said it would simply reflect a changing attitude towards pets in Australia.

“The majority of pet owners we spoke to, 98 per cent, treat their pets as part of the family and want to care for a critically ill pet in the same way they would for a family member,” she said.
