A protest is set to occur this afternoon on Sydney Road in Brunswick during peak hour, to promote safer bike lanes for bike riders in the area.

Greens MP for Brunswick, Dr Tim Read, will be attending the protest, along with the bike group Critical Mass who will be riding up the busy road.

“We really want people who want to ride their bikes to the shops and so on to feel safer, and so what we’re interested in is separated or protected bike lanes,” Dr Read told Neil Mitchell.

“There’s a lot of people on bikes in Brunswick, and there’s a hell of a lot of people who would like to get on bikes in Brunswick if it was safer for them.”
