The Preston Market is in jeopardy of going under redevelopment, with developers wanting to replace 80 per cent of the market site with high-rise apartments.

George Kanjere, who is part of the Save the Preston Market group, is fighting to keep the market as it is.

Mr Kanjere believes the developers, who own the site, have been allowing the market to get into disrepair in order to push the claim for redevelopment of the site.

“We don’t really trust the developers promises as far as we can throw them,” Mr Kanjere told Dee Dee.

“If they actually did care about the market, and fully did care about the market as the community does, they would have been maintaining it properly up to today.”
