The ‘really surprising’ official advice on disposing of dead birds amid bird flu crisis
Bird flu is spreading across Victoria and the entire country.
Despite authorities receiving reports about sick or dying birds, birds are not being retrieved, are being dumped in public bins or the hotline is ringing out.
3AW program reporter Breanna Edebohls told 3AW Mornings host Shane McInnes official advice is simply to double-bag a dead bird and put it in a personal or public bin.

“They say: ‘You can proceed to dispose of the dead wildlife using the existing general waste collection service such as the red-lid general waste bin’,” she explained.
