The reason it’s so hard to get appliances and electronics repaired these days

Tom Elliott has noticed in recent years it’s become harder and harder to get appliances repaired.

Cost and convenience means it’s often easier to simply buy a new one.

But it’s not a good outcome for the environment, or product quality.

Erin Turner, Consumer advocacy group CHOICE’s campaigns director, said it wasn’t good enough.

“It is harder than it should be,” she said on 3AW.

“Some companies build their whole business model on encouraging you to buy new products.”
