Australians are facing a critical shortage of tinned beetroot.

And it all comes back to a supply problem after a manufacturing change over a decade ago, according to Lockyer Valley Foods CEO Colin Dorber.

“It’s a supply issue,” he told Jacqui Felgate on 3AW Drive.

“In 2011, Heinz packed up and moved to New Zealand. Over 95 per cent of non-fresh beetroot comes from places like the United Kingdom, South America and recently of all places, China.”
