The report tabled in parliament which Tom Elliott thinks will make Victoria a ‘far worse place’

A report tabled in parliament on Tuesday by the Yoorrook Justice Commission has led Tom Elliott to state how Victoria will become a “far worse place” if we go down this path.
One hundred recommendations have been delivered to the Allan government following Australia’s first Indigenous-led truth-telling inquiry, and it’s left the 3AW Mornings host concerned.
“I’ve got to tell you, what it is recommending, perhaps demanding from the government, is nothing short of extraordinary,” he said.

“What we are talking about here is setting up what I think amounts to almost a separate state within the state.
“This sounds awfully like, and I hate to say it but I think this is where we’re heading, what South Africa was like pre-1994.
“I think it sets a terrible precedent … this is not a step forward, it is a step backwards.”
Victoria’s inaugural treaty advancement commissioner, Aunty Jill Gallagher, then denied the report will fuel further separation.
“It’s acknowledging the past, it’s not about taking anything away from Victorians,” Gallagher told Tom Elliott.
