The rental shortage at the moment has begged the question of what the ethical obligation is for those with Airbnb properties to open them up for those affected by floods.

Former Airbnb host and founder of the podcast Hosting with Heart, Jen Clark, believes hosting goes beyond the economic factor.

“I think it’s about a whole new holistic approach to hosting,” Ms Clark told Tom Elliott.

This approach to hosting takes on factors such as sustainability, accessibility for diverse communities, quality, creativity and social responsibility.

“What I’m advocating for is a much more responsible, ethical way of managing holiday properties,” Ms Clark said.
