A “significant” fire has unfolded at Yallourn Power Station in the Latrobe Valley this afternoon.

The station supplies approximately 20-30 per cent of the state’s power, with lots of firefighters on the scene.

“I’m not quite sure how firefighters will be able to contain it,” Peter Marshall from the United Firefighters Union told Jacqui Felgate.

Press PLAY the issues to arise (including Peter Marshall’s message to Jacinta Allan and Jaclyn Symes)

“What we have here is a critical crisis in the fire service, where firefighters’ morale is so depleted, because the government have deserted them.”
