CEO of the Australian Road Research Organisation, Michael Caltabiano, has spoken on a new tactic which could be deployed to fix the chaos under the Montague Street Bridge.

A seemingly unstoppable number of trucks, vans and buses continue to smash into the bridge, with no “effective” solution in sight.

Mr Caltabiano told Ross and Russ the issue with current solutions is the lack of  “innovation” and not the “technology”.

He said there needs to be some “innovation” brought into the sector, because the resolution is “certainly not” lowering the speed limit.

“Technology innovation has far exceeded where our safety advisors to the government are thinking,” he said on 3AW Breakfast.

Chief Executive of the Victorian Transport Association, Peter Anderson, spoke to Tony Moclair on 3AW about the proposed solution to lower the speed limit.
