The staggering number of Australians who failed to vote in the Voice referendum
A staggering 2.6 million Australians didn’t vote in the Voice referendum.
That’s more than one-in-seven Australians who are enrolled to vote, compared with one-in-10 people who failed to vote at the last federal election.
Co-director of the Australian Election Study at ANU, Professor Ian McAllister, says “younger people are much less likely to vote than older people”, but there’s also another factor he believes explains the huge number of people who failed to vote.
