More than one-in-four Australians have already cast their federal election vote.

Victorian state manager of the Australian Electoral Commission, Nye Coffee, says it’s been “very busy”, with a pre-poll record broken yesterday.

“We had 750,000 votes across the country yesterday, our biggest day of pre-polling ever,” he said.

Yesterday, in Victoria alone, 180,000 votes were cast.

A staggering 4.6 million of the 17 million eligible electors across the country have already voted.

Mr Coffee says “we could get another million today”.
