The staggering percentage of Australians who’ve felt unhappy at work in the past year
Almost three-quarters of employed Australians have felt unhappy at work in the last 12 months, according to new data from global hiring platform Indeed.
A staggering 72 per cent of respondents said they’ve felt unhappy at work in the past year, while almost a quarter of those surveyed reported they’ve felt unhappy at work for five or more consecutive months.
Heavy workloads, poor communication and bad relationships with colleagues are the particularly distressing aspects of work that are making Australians unhappy.
Psychologist at Indeed, Amanda Gordon says “the sorts of stresses that are problematic for people are the sorts that go on, and on, and on”.
“If you want to be happy at work, one of the things psychologists know is happiness is associated with a sense of meaning, and if you’re doing the bare minimum … you’re never going to really feel engaged and get that sense of meaning from the work that you do,” she told Ross and Russel.
