The staggering sum sitting on unused and expired myki cards

There is a shocking amount of money sitting on unused or expired myki cards that may never be recovered by transport users.

President of the Public Transport Users Association, Tony Morton, says “the process for getting money off those and putting them on a different card or getting them refunded is not especially easy”, and it’s deterred commuters from doing so.

“The government knows all this money is there,” he told Ross and Russel.
