Many of Melbourne’s COVID-19 restrictions have been eased today, but the CEO of the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VECCI) says we’re “only at three quarter time in the grand final”.

VECCI CEO Paul Guerra says “we’re seven goals up … we can’t celebrate, though, until the final siren”.

Mr Guerra says businesses won’t be able to celebrate properly until the state hits the 80 per cent double-dose milestone and restrictions are eased further.

“I reckon if the Premier announces on Sunday that come next Friday we’re at 80 per cent settings, the lid will be off,” he told Ross and Russel.

Mr Guerra says there’s a big thing that’s still missing, and Melbourne needs it to return as soon as possible.

“We can go further here. What’s missing from this town now is planes,” he said.

“We want to see them come back in.”
