The technology to take the heavy workload out of bricklaying

A new technology could change the bricklaying trade forever.

Fastbrick Robotics has built a machine that will make houses quicker and cheaper to build. 

‘The future of bricklayers should be working alongside a machine that can take the heavy lifting out of what they do,’ CEO Mike Pivac said.

‘Bricklayers themselves (can) work on the more artisan-type work that they’re very good at.’

Naturally, concerns were raised that jobs may be lost, but Mr Pivac said the same arguments were made when sugar cane and wheat harvesters were introduced.

‘We don’t look back without fondness that we don’t have people bent over in the fields working in the hot sun,’ he said.
