The City of Wyndham is hoping to shift the way houses are built in the future.

According to a report in The Age, covered outdoor dining areas, double garages and black roofs are “blighting” parts of the City of Wyndham.

Urban planning expert Roz Hansen says more clarity for builders and developers was needed to help move towards a more modern style of living.

“The council is trying to give guidance to developers and builders to say ‘this is what we want’ and to try move things forward for people who are prepared to comply (to altered regulations),” she told Ross and Russ.

“This story is about diversity to provide different type of housing to meet different household needs.”
