A Victorian court reporter has had enough.

Karen Matthews from the Geelong Advertiser has penned a letter to criminal lawyers, berating them for the clich?s and excuses they use in court.

She told Ross and John two in particular sent her over the edge.

‘Depression and anxiety,’ she said on 3AW Breakfast.

‘Of course they’re depressed and anxious.

‘They’re anxious because they might go to jail and they’re depressed because they got caught.’

She said it trivialised the seriousness of mental illness.

‘It’s a really nasty thing,’ she said.

‘It’s pathetic.’
