Police caught up with two young alleged aggravated burglars in an unexpected location yesterday.

Police were called after an allegedly stolen BMW X5 was seen in Sebastapol at about 12.30pm.

The car was tracked to a shopping centre car park and the driver and a passenger fled on foot.

The two occupants of the vehicle made their way to a nearby retirement village, where police found them a short time later.

An 18-year-old Ballarat man and a 16-year-old Ballarat East boy have both been charged with aggravated burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, endangering serious injury and other traffic-related offences.

The 18-year-old will appear at the Ballarat Magistrates’ Court today.

The 16-year-old has been remanded to appear at a children’s court at a later date.
