The unintended consequences of rising gas network connection prices
Nick McCallum believes the sharp rise in fees to connect to the gas network will disproportionately affect poorer people.
From 2025, households will be forced to pay almost $2,400 upfront to connect their gas, while businesses will be slugged up to $31,000.
McCallum said the cost of living crisis for those who couldn’t afford the added gas fees would only get “worse and worse”.
